Joa rides on the bullriding circuit but being a Brazilian that grew up in Texas ensures that he is never quite sure of his place. But he is sure that Champion Brazilian Rider Balta is his hero.

Balta is also sure of Joa's place; it's in his bed and by his side. He just needs to convince the shy man that he is not a hero and that Joa is exactly what he wants. And as everyone on the circuit knows Balta always gets what he wants. Joa has no idea what kind of ride is in store for him, all he can hope to do is hang on for the full 8 seconds...or forever.

I love the entire Roughstock series and Doce is a welcome edition. BA Tortuga has such a strong voice and it has been put to excellent use here. Joa and Balta are exceptional characters. Each strong in their own way, each with shortcomings but through the slow building of their relationship you discover, along with them, that together they are complete and make each other better. Joa was an especial favorite of mine. He was indeed sweet and tasty. I felt a bit jealous of Balta because Joa had such deep feelings for him. While steamy and titillating to read, Doce is one of those stories that is becoming rarer and harder to find in the genre. A story where the storyline is the priority and the sex is just an added benefit, not the point of the story. And what a benefit it was, Brazilian lovers are HOT!
