Breach of Trust
Philippe Lamont is a venture capitalist who doesn't make many mistakes. He is eager to discover who the person is that has been bringing in lots of money to his company, but for some reason everyone is tight lipped. Upon discovering the person's identity, he is surprised to learn it is a woman. She is certain to be someone unforgettable. He decides to ask his in-house private investigator to do some search on Anne. After all, she already knew all about him. Anne James knows that Philippe shows no mercy when it comes to any business deals. She sees the handsome son of a gun as a challenge when presenting any business deal to him. After learning someone is doing a little snooping into her business ventures, she is certain Philippe is behind it. When the two finally have their encounter they are like magnets. Anne cannot get over the fact after a small encounter with the man; it appeared Philippe really wanted the plain brown Anne. He doesn't try to hide how much he wishes to be with Anne as the days pass on before them. Things really take a serious turn for the two until Philippe believes she has stabbed him in the back within the business. Can Anne prove to him her love is real and she never betrayed his confidence, or will this be the final end for the two?
I like the beginning of Breach of Trust. It was composed in a way that immediately pulled me into the story and kept me mesmerized until the end. I enjoyed the way the cat and mouse game sort of played out between Anne and Philippe. He comes across as this demanding sort of man, yet there are times I could see him as a suave and sophisticated person. Anne, even though she believes she is like a plain Anne, I found trustworthy and most confident, and beautiful inside and out. She gives from her heart, making her a genuine individual. Kimber Chin creates a story surrounded within the business, and finance world, that seems so life-like in every aspect. By weaving in some friction, chemistry and betrayal, along with dynamite characters that know how to emit some steam between the pages this read is explosive.
