The Call Boys: Brace
Brace McCall, his brothers and one cousin Ramsey run a male escort service in order to help out his financially strapped parents and to put away enough money to send his younger brother to college. The only problem Brace faces, but it's a doozy, is that he has broken their one and only rule and fallen for his client Penny. Unfortunately for him, she doesn't appear to return his feelings. When he over hears her dismissing him as "lacking in passion" when talking to her friends, Brace loses it and stakes his clam in a very public manner. What he doesn't he know is that Penny has been holding back in fear of being turned down by him. After his little demonstration, all bets are off and they are free to physically indulge to their hearts', and bodies', content. However, both are wary of the "L" word, and it's not clear which one will break first.
Although this is ostensibly Brace's story, Ramsey plays almost an equally large part in it. We see him meet his client, Larissa, who appears to be his perfect match. However, the stubborn Brit proves to be a hard sell, and we are denied the happy-ever-after which seemed to be right around the corner.
Madison Hayes has begun what should prove to be a sizzling series with The Call Boys if this first book is any indication of those to come. Brace is incredibly sexy with his insecurities well hidden behind a cocky attitude and a sinful smile. His inner conflicts just add to his appeal. Penny is great because she makes him work for what he wants from her (which is everything he can get), when it's pretty clear that none of the men in this family have ever had to work for anything when it comes to women. Brace's brothers show promise to be excellent story fodder, and given a little time, Joey should turn out to be a charmer as well. Ramsey is just too arrogant to get by much longer without being taken down, although with his obvious sexual prowess, it will be one heck of a ride getting him there. This reader can hardly wait to be there when it happens, but for those with ring-side seats, be careful you don't get burned! Five Angels
