Defeat the Darkness
After being tortured to death by Kalith warriors, Hunter Fitzsimon has healed enough to be put back to work and has been assigned to protect a small stretch of barrier north of Seattle, Washington. When Hunter arrives in the small town of Justice Point, his first order of business is to rent an apartment. Too bad for him the only one available comes with a pesky landlady that goes by the name of Tate Justice.

As Hunter tries to discover who is making regular trips to the barrier, Tate makes a point of following him and keeping track of his comings and goings. When she follows him into the woods one night, he kisses her to keep her quiet and to keep them from being spotted by the men coming back from the barrier. The kiss serves Hunter's purpose in keeping them hidden, but it also awakens an undeniable passion in both of them. Will Hunter be able to concentrate on his mission with Tate always around or will he have to turn his back on her in order to protect the world against the Kalith?

Defeat the Darkness is the sixth book in the Paladin's series by author Alexis Morgan.

I was thrilled to read Hunter's story and learn how he was dealing with the aftermath of being killed, and the long journey he made back to the living. He is very rough and grumpy in this story which I thought fit what he had been through and enjoyed watching Tate give back as good as she got from him. The sparks fly off the pages when these two get close to each other, and the action scenes are fast and fierce.

Ms. Morgan has gifted readers with another fantastic tale in the Paladin series. Her excellent characterization and intriguing storylines make her books a pleasure to read and very hard to put down. 5 angels!
