Patient Eyes
Patient Eyes by Andy Eisenberg is a contemporary homoerotic romance.
Jaden loves being in college, but his biggest problem is that no matter what he does he is always hungry. His course work is too heavy to work more than he already is at Starbucks, but it just isn't enough to cover his basic needs. Jaden's parents have all they can do to pay for his schooling. This leaves him scraping by and hungry most of the time. One morning when Jaden is particularly hungry, he talks with Kevin, a fellow house mate, about a job that might help him out of his present circumstance, and he gives him a web site to look into. Jaden is more than surprised to find the site is adult porn. Jaden at first is shocked, but Kevin's no-nonsense attitude intrigues him. Jaden attempts to call Nickie back home, but she is still not happy that he won't be home for Thanksgiving because he can't afford it. After talking to Kevin, Jaden agrees to have some pictures taken, and one week later he is having a solo trial in the same room he saw Kevin in on the site. Jaden finds himself hired, but his worst nightmare is what would happen if his parents found out. Jaden meets Brendan, another actor, and his interest is immediate. Could there ever be something more between Jaden and Brendan? What about Nickie? What will happen if Jaden's parents ever find out?
Ms. Eisenburg has created a fascinating story about one man's journey through the world of pornography and some of it's consequences. It was fascinating to watch as Jaden was introduced to this world by Kevin and how nonchalantly Kevin made it sound. Jaden's acceptance into pornography was riveting as he struggled with the consequences, but accepted them all the same. It was wonderful to watch the immediate bond form between Jaden and Brendan in such an unusual circumstance. Will Brendan and Jaden's love survive the outside forces that could threaten their growing love for each other? Thanks go to Ms. Eisenburg for a wonderful story.
