Poolside by J. M. Snyder is a contemporary homoerotic short story.

Kevin can't wait until his shift as lifeguard finishes, so he can get into the pool for some quiet swim time before tomorrow's practice with the swim team. Then Kevin sees the one person he has been avoiding, Denny. Kevin and Denny have seen each other around the dorm, but they live completely different lives. Kevin has work, school and the swim team while Denny is rumored to be a pot head. Weeks ago, Denny approached Kevin with graphic details about how he has been watching Kevin. Things were quickly warming up between them until they were interrupted. The mood was broken when Denny went to yell at his friend. Kevin snuck out and has been avoiding Denny ever since. Will Denny finally make another move towards Kevin, or will their mutual lust for each other wither and die?

Ms. Snyder has created as well written a story delving into Kevin's feelings as he tells the story from his point of view. The depth of Kevin's character and his emotions bring the story to life for the reader. The erotic scenes between Kevin and Denny create a mood both poignant and very hot.
