A Kiss of Ashen Twilight
Ariya lives in the Aziza fairy realm outside of the Dahomey region with her family. Ariya helps the hunters track down creatures. Everything has been peaceful till one day, an elemental-like creature comes after Ariya. It wants to take Ariya’s life. Her parents distract it so that Ariya can escape. Ariya heads to the mortal realm.

Ariya tries to get her bearings, but before she can, she is attacked by some lycans. Ariya uses her powers to fend off the lycans, but her powers aren’t as strong in the mortal world. Just as Ariya prepares for the end, a dark mysterious man comes to her rescue. Jace Archane is a Nightwalker and the future patriarch over the House of Blood. Once Jace gets a good look at the woman he rescued, he realizes he has never seen anyone like her. She is beautiful. Ariya needs to get back home, because the longer she stays, the weaker she gets. Jace wants to help Ariya, but he also doesn’t want to lose her. What Jace and Ariya don’t realize is that the elemental creature that is after Ariya has made its way to the mortal world.

A Kiss of Ashen Twilight is book one in the Ashen Twilight series. Though I really liked the concept of having nightwalkers, lycans and faeries all together in one book, the story fell a little flat for me. I would have liked the focus to be a little more on Ariya and Jace. They seemed like they were good together. The problem was that there were too many other characters appearing in the story, so some of the focus was drawn away from the main characters as you were trying to follow along with everyone in the book. Other than this fact, I did find that Rae Lori had great potential to tell a good story. I would give Rae Lori another try.
