Every Demon Has His Day
Constance Plyd has never forgiven Nathan Garrett. He took her virginity, didn't call the next day, and then to add insult she found out that she was on his list of conquests, not even by name but by a number. But now several years have past, she is in the midst of a divorce from her husband, Jimmy, a man she never loved and only married because he eventually wore her down. She is looking forward to a fresh start to her life. What she didn't see coming was seeing a demon in a black suit murder Jimmy, herself becoming a prime suspect, or Nathan Garrett being back in town as the new Sheriff and the man who arrests her. But Constance isn't just any woman, she is a minor Prophet who is expected to see who the mother of the next anti-christ is going to be and demons galore have converged on Crockett County. Can Constance convince Nathan that she is innocent and not crazy...can she convince herself?
I've seen novels by Cara Lockwood on the shelves before. I even had a little chuckle at the titles and the blurbs. But this is the first one that I've ever picked up and actually read. Let me admit here and now that I was mistaken in my choices not to read those previous books. Especially if they are written with the same tongue in cheek humor, well developed plots, and fantastic characters. I intend to rectify my mistake immediately by going out and buying her other works. Every Demon Has His Day is one of those fabulous books that pulls you in and once it sinks its hooks into you it's impossible to put down. While the plot was nothing new, the devil looking for a mother for his evil spawn, the manner in which Ms. Lockwood carries the plot out is refreshing and had me giggling out loud in spots. Filled with fantastic characters, from the typical hero and heroine, to the unusual, a arsenal wearing, hummer driving priest, and a talking dog in a pink sweater, Every Demon Has His Day is one book that I don't hesitate to recommend.
