Carol Juan is the steady one in the family. She runs her grandmother’s restaurants efficiently and profitably. She’s always been the one to question her grandmother’s belief in dragons and her insistence that the old tales are more than myths and legends. When a naked man accosts her and demands to know why she summoned him, her tidy world of numbers and profits and loss is shaken with the realization that her grandmother was right. Not only that, but Carol finds out that she is a Dragon Master, one of the few beings able to summon and control a dragon, and that naked man was Seth, a fierce fire dragon in human form. She will need to learn how to access and control her powers in order to save the very man that accused her. Can they join forces against an ancient evil reborn?

Seth was a delight to read. His willingness to stop and listen, after a while, was amazing for his ferocious nature. I have loved every one of Allyson James’ stories so far and have to say this one was no different. You are brought into a world just this side of reality, and you really don’t want to leave. My favorite part of these books (aside from the dragons of course) is their entwining storylines and characters. I had fun revisiting previous characters and especially seeing more of Ming Ue. I especially enjoyed watching Carol unwind with each and every surprise that came up. She dealt with things very well but with a realistic amount of ‘what the heck?’ I look forward to seeing what else is in store for us from Ms. James.
