Loving Lucas
Riley has spent the last ten years plotting revenge against his old teacher Lucas. Everything went bad when Lucas refused to admit this love for Riley. No one believed that they were destined to be together, not even his parents. Riley tortured and attempted to kill Lucas, but he left him alive. Next time he will be more careful and that day is coming soon.

Nicholas, the town sheriff, just learned that the man he loves, Lucas, is in danger because the man obsessed with him was just released from jail on a technicality. Nicholas saw Lucas five years ago when he moved, and it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, Lucas never responded to him until Nicholas was injured. While he was supposed to be unconscious, Lucas begged him to get better and told Nicholas that he loved him. Nicholas knows that Lucas received scars, both physical and mental, years ago and is afraid to love again. Nicholas is determined that not only will he protect Lucas but obtain his hearts desire, Lucas’s love. Lucas knows that Riley is coming to get him from the letter he received from Riley about finally killing him, and he is waiting for the inevitable until Nicholas arrives. Will Nicholas and Lucas find their way to each other? Will Nicholas find a way to stop Riley before it is too late?

Ms. Davis has written a spectacular story about love, trust and vengeance with characters who take on a life of their own. Riley may be crazy, but in his own mind his motives make sense, if only to himself. The character of Riley is the perfect foil to Nicholas’s desire to protect that makes him the ideal policemen. Lucas is a loving, caring person who never hurt anyone but is caught in a situation beyond his understanding. The love between Lucas and Nicholas is obvious to the reader, but to watch the fulfillment of the desires is beautiful to behold. I will be looking for other books by Ms. Davis.
