Sleeping with the Past
Sleeping with the Past by Cassidy Ryan
Ellie Holden is very worried about Professor Asher Munro. He has been getting threatening letters for a while, but he just passes them off as a joke. Ellie takes it into her own hands by going to her father, Nathaniel, a detective. Unknown to Ellie, her father is a closet gay man who has had a thing for Asher from the first time he saw him. Asher’s beautiful blue eyes and all-encompassing smile drive him crazy. Before Nathaniel has time to talk to Asher, danger strikes, injuring Asher and placing Nathaniel in the position of protecting him. At the same time, Asher has wanted Nathaniel, but he always thought of Nathaniel as out of reach until now. As they spend time together, they get to know each other better and the line between them gets thinner and thinner. As tensions between Asher and Nathaniel increase, Nathaniel fights his own inner demon and Asher begins to understand that there are influences from Nathaniel’s past that drive his behavior. Will Asher and Nathaniel find out who is threatening Asher in time? Will they find each other in the process?
Cassidy Ryan has created contemporary story with characters in current day situations. The threatening situation that Asher finds himself in is beyond his comprehension. It takes more than just a threat to make Asher and Nathaniel take it seriously. The plot line is fast paced, well-written, and engages the reader from the start. The growing love between Asher and Natheniel is beautiful, while the distress Nathaniel feels is realistic and sad at the same time. You will never guess who is responsible for the threats. Read the story to find out what happens.
