Lieutenant Andrew Clayton has it pretty bad for his friend and boss, Officer Daniel Barrett. They have been friends for several years and served together in the British Navy. But Daniel gives no indication that he’s interested, and it’s not only against the rules for men to be more than just friends, but it is also against the law. For such an offense a man can be hanged. But everything changes when their captain gets married and they are granted shore leave. For one week they are with each other. It’s another matter when they’re back on the ship, however. With so much at stake, can they find the happiness they both deserve in each other’s arms, or will it all come crashing down?

This is my first experience with Katherine Cross’s work, and if all of her work is like Lover’s Knot then I’ll definitely be reading more from her. I couldn’t help but fall in love with both Andrew and Daniel. The way that Daniel’s ‘low’ birth sort of propels his relationship with Andrew and the way that Daniel stands by his decisions after he makes them, which also propels the story forward, is the work of a talented author. This is definitely a solid 5 angels for me!
