Daybreak is the continuation of Lucas and Nate’s story from Eight Nights. I really liked how Keira Andrews took the ending of that story the all encompassing love of Nate and Lucas, and brought it down to a more realistic level. I wondered how it would work out for them after Eight Nights, and this novel more than answered that question. Ms. Andrews answered all my questions in a manner that was true to life and allowed the reader to draw their own conclusions about the characters’ behaviors. I found that Lucas and his actions were very authentic. While finding them distasteful, I also felt that they were understandable. I thought that the reaction of Nate was handled in a tasteful manner and that in the end it equaled the playing field a bit and took the unknown out of the equation for both men. A lot of the issues that both men had were faced, and in the end their relationship came out stronger and the love was more enduring. Any relationship that is based on lies, even when the lies are to protect the other, can never survive. I can’t wait to read more by this author and hope that she writes quickly.
