Renovations 3: Moving Day
Toby and Ven have a good thing going. They are settling into their business partnership and things are going well for them in the bedroom as well. Ven couldn’t be happier, until his brother Cake gets a long awaited letter. He’s been accepted into an assisted living facility, a place he’s dreamed of living forever.
Ven tries to be happy for Cake but realizes that while Cake is ready to be on his own, Ven isn’t. Can Toby help him through this time of change and help Ven realize that he’s ready for much more than he thinks?
I really like this series of short stories from authors Anah Crow and Dianne Fox. Each one has been well written with plot lines that advance the story through the stages of Toby and Ven’s relationship. Moving Day shows the progression from friends, business partners, and occasional lovers to something deeper. The title encompasses not only Ven’s brother Cake moving out of Ven’s house and into his own place, but Ven’s emotional journey. He is moving forward with his life, no longer his brother’s caretaker, no longer the insecure boy he used to be. He is now a successful man with the love of another successful man, all he has to do is take that final step and move forward, admit that he wants Toby for more than just a bed partner and wants something more serious. Not only were the sensual scenes between the two almost too hot to handle but they showed that while Ven may not have been ready to admit what he was feeling to himself his body had no trouble demonstrating his emotions for him. I can’t wait to see where Anah Crow and Dianne Fox take this next!
