Angels’ Blood
In a world where angels soar and vampires serve them, Elena Deveraux is a born vampire hunter who’s just been given the job of a lifetime. In the employ of the archangel Raphael, Elena is given a glimpse of a life and a world that others only imagine. She’s dropped into a hunt for a rogue and given almost nothing to assist her, but as the best hunter alive, Elena will not fail. She simply cannot, because too much is at risk for that to happen. With her hunter abilities and an archangel known for his strict adherence to his law, Elena becomes part of the archangel world in a way that will destroy her.
When I saw that Ms. Singh was writing another series, I was actually upset. I couldn’t imagine her going away from the Psy-Changeling world and making us wait longer for more. However, I got a glimpse of the first chapter of Angels’ Blood on her website and found myself enmeshed in yet another eerily fascinating world. When I got this advance reading copy in the mail, I promptly began reading (yes it was at a stoplight) and didn’t stop until I was done at 1:30 in the morning. Needless to say, I am no longer disappointed in Ms. Singh’s deviation from her Psy-Changeling world. This is probably one of the best stories I have ever read and will be one that I will rave about for quite a while. Not only was the world just completely awe-inspiring, but the characters and the storyline are evocative and a pure pleasure to read. Elena and Raphael are both such strong characters, yet they do not seem to give in to each other. They complement each other fabulously. The glimpses of what’s to come were very well done and just whet the appetite for more. Brava, again.
