Fiery Ember

Ember Ellason works in the family advertising company as a secretary. She doesn’t know why her dad left the family business to her step-mother, but apparently she isn’t good enough to do anything else in the company except answer the phones, fetch coffee and occasionally do some typing. When her step-mother and step-sisters don’t show up for a very important client meeting, Ember steps in and gives the presentation. Paul Ashe is wowed by not only the Ellason Advertising campaign but the woman who gave the presentation. But after one incredible date, she disappears.

After Ember’s successful presentation, she realizes she has more potential than her step-family gives her credit for, and she is determined to move on to another company that will appreciate her. She also doesn’t want to see Paul again after one sexually heated date that leads to more than she had anticipated. But her attraction to Paul isn’t going away, and Ember may have made a mistake.

Fiery Ember is a modern twist on the classic Cinderella tale, where Ember is not valued or treated well by her step-family but continues to work in the family business out of loyalty to her deceased father. I enjoyed this story. I love fairy tales, and Cinderella is a favorite. I am delighted with some of the creative modern versions that authors have come out with, and this one is one of my favorites. It would never have occurred to me to set Cinderella’s story around a family business, but it works. Of course this is an adult version of the tale, too, and that also adds to the fun. If you love modern versions of fairy tales, you will enjoy Fiery Ember.
