Roan and Bas have been in love for almost a year, but they have known each other all of their lives. As children and cousins, they grew up having an especially close relationship, but they didn’t understand why until recently. The pleasure they give each other is more than they ever imagined. The only cloud in the sky is that their families don’t have a clue what is going on and that they are returning home for Christmas. Bas doesn’t know if he is strong enough to hide his feelings. Once home, Bas can’t help feeling jealous watching his sister showing affection to her boyfriend when he can’t show his feelings for his. Roan sneaks away and when Bas follows he realizes that they both are feeling the same about hiding their relationship. Unexpected things occur that may just tip things over the edge for Roan and Bas. Will Roan and Bas’s love survive the calamity? How will their families react to their relationship?

Ms. Ryan has created an intricate story about love and how relationships can be affected by friends and family. Each family has things that they don’t want known, but how they respond to these challenges differ. Bas and Ryan’s love is strong, but can it overcome how their family sees them? The reaction of different individuals to the hidden family secrets is very realistic and sad. If people would just be open and truthful about family problems, they wouldn’t grow into bigger issues than they need to be. The love and commitment shown by Roan and Bas is very inspiring.
