By Chance by Cat Grant is the third book in the Courtland Chronicles series.

Eric Courtland enters his dorm room to find a very hot and wet man, Nick Thompson, stepping out of his shower. He doesn’t have a roommate, so this is a shock to him and his libido. Eric finds out that one of the dorms had to be closed displacing all of the students leaving him with a temporary roommate. After the initial unfortunate meeting, Eric devises a plan to get Nick to leave. Eric propositions Nick figuring he would leave screaming, unfortunately for him, Nick stands his ground. As they get to know one another better, Nick and Eric become friends learning there is more to each of them than meets the eye. Even though their backgrounds are completely different, they grew up in the same area. Things begin to spiral out of control when Eric is attacked leaving Nick to pick up the pieces, literally and physically! As Eric’s family life crumbles, Nick tries and make sense out of a crazy situation. Will Eric and Nick find a way to stay together?

Ms. Grant has created an incredible story with characters that pulled me into the story from the very beginning. Eric at first glance appears to be a spoiled rich kid, but in reality his life has been anything but spoiled. Nick never explored his sexuality until he met Eric, who is open about it. Eric is the type of character that grows on you as you begin to understand the reasons for his actions and how he reacts to different situations. It is beautiful to watch as Eric and Nick's love grows through all the obstacles life places in their way. The erotic seems as both beautiful and very hot. This is the first and not the last of Ms. Grant’s stories that I will be reading.
