Jake Keys, a member of the rock group Pure Wildfire, has always had whatever woman he ever wanted. For the members of the band, that is a very long time. You see, each of the members is a shapeshifter and has lived a very long time. Two of the four members have recently found the love of their lives, while Jake is still fancy free, in a way. A few years ago, he married a woman, Cheryl, in name only, and the arrangement has worked out fine until today. He gets a phone message telling him that Cheryl has been killed and the leading suspect is her business partner Teresa. Jake faintly remembers meeting her at the wedding, but when he sees her again, all he can think about is freeing her and then bedding her. Jake knows she is innocent after he reads her mind one of his many abilities. Teresa surprises him when she knows about his abilities from Cheryl; she wasn’t supposed to tell anyone without permission. Things begin to unravel as Jake puts his abilities and talents into finding a way to clear Teresa’s name and protect her from the enemies that are fighting to exterminate Pure Wildfire and all the other talents in the world. Will Jake and Teresa have enough time to realize their love before it is too late?

Ms. Connolly has continued her action-packed paranormal series with her latest incredible story. Jake’s past is a mystery that Teresa has no idea exists, but is more than willing to uncover. I am fascinated by the abilities that Jake and the other members of Pure Wildfire can manifest and the limits they will take to save the ones that they love. Teresa appears to be your average woman, but her ability to accept the unexpected makes her a perfect match for Jake. The love that they share is both combustible and very loving. I will be waiting for the next installment of the Pure Wildfire series.
