Runaway
Runaway by Amanda Steiger is a homoerotic paranormal story.
Keith has been alone since he left his wolf pack. The pack’s leader, Lucas, is a sadistic bully who beats anyone who questions his authority into submission, which Keith did. Keith is having dinner at a local diner when he smells the unmistakable sent of a wolf. The man in question, Taylor, has the disheveled appearance of a young man on his own, just like Keith. Taylor is very frightened, and he has no idea about the changes that he is going through. He was recently bitten by what he thought was a big dog and is afraid that he might hurt someone as he did once before, so he decided to end it all until Keith entered into his life. Keith talks Taylor into going home with him to teach him about what it is to be a werewolf. Keith finds that once Taylor is cleaned up, his altruistic feelings are at odds with his very basic wolf instincts to claim his mate. As they learn more about each other, Keith and Taylor learn their feelings are mutual, causing Keith's personal feelings to conflict with what he feels he should do. Keith’s past problems reappear, making Keith and Taylor choose sides in what may have a deadly outcome.
Ms. Steiger has created a fast paced story that drew me in from the start. Her descriptive writing brings the story to life for the reader. It was incredible to read how Keith and Taylor transformed into werewolves. Taylor’s reservations and fear about the change are real-to-life and the way most people would probably respond. I was touched how Keith reacts and supports Taylor when he learns about the difficulties Taylor had to endure in his life. The growing love between Taylor and Keith is very beautiful. Thanks go to Ms. Steiger for a wonderful story.
