Submission
As a confirmed bachelorette, Lady Juliet De Mar finds her pleasure wherever and whenever she can. Under the guise of an exclusive London Literary Club, Juliet and her friends have the opportunity to play their little sex games in the comfort of their own homes, and in the knowledge that it will not reach the ears of the more prim London ton.
One person not impressed with the select sex club is Juliet’s childhood friend James Wakefield. If Juliet was honest with James and tell him it is he she craves, there would be no need for her to go to the club’s monthly meetings. But after humiliating him as a teenager, James shuns all her advances. Now she is ready to take matters into her own hands. On his yearly visit home Juliet devises a plan to kidnap her wayward sea captain and make him realize that they could be great together, if he would give them a chance.
The plan goes horribly wrong when it is Juliet that is kidnap by the devious Captain Black. Tied and held as his hostage Juliet is now faced with the scenario that James tried to warn her about.
This is a great short read. Fiona Vance has delivered a somewhat humorous look at the life of a young English Lady and her desire for passion. Submission, while classed as erotic, is not over the top with sex scenes. You can’t help but love both Juliet and James; the chemistry between them is evident from their first encounter in the book.
For a short read Ms. Vance has managed to give a solid well rounded read. The plot and subplots marry well and while told solely from Juliet’s point of view, you still get a good grasp on James’ emotions. I loved it, and look forward to reading more of Ms. Vance’s work.
