Fakin’ It
Spartan Fluey never thought by marrying Goddard that her life would turn into a disaster. Goddard ridicules her, humiliates her, and treats her like dirt. After twenty-nine years she is fed up. Benjamin Brennart lost his restaurant as well as his marriage after Hurricane Katrina. The restaurant had been his dream, and his wife had been the love of his life, but the hurricane wiped out everything. Spartan feels as if she was only pressured into marrying Goddard. Why she stayed so long with him, she doesn’t know. To hear Goddard talk, she was responsible for the breakup by not really doing everything he practically demanded. With no family or close friends to offer support, she is alone, but no longer would she have to live with a man who constantly degraded her. Spartan feels as if all the years she was with Goddard she was swindled, even in feeling anything about love. She wants to know how it feels to really be loved, if only for one day. When she signs up at an escort service, Spartan meets Benjamin, who is also signed up. Neither imagined they would connect to each other in such a good way. Benjamin still has love in his heart for his ex-wife, but he feels something for Spartan. As their time together blossoms, both must decide what their future holds together.

Dr. Kris Condi pens a tale that immediately grabbed me. I was hooked all the way to the end. So many times I wish I could have jumped in the pages and taken care of Goddard. He was such an inconsiderate, self-centered, narcissistic man. The way he got his sexual release just irritated me. The story is so realistic that I could not help but be thrown into the storyline and connect with the characters. When I read, ‘she’s lucky to have him,’ I thought, ha. Oh yes, this story really made me a part of it. A real connection, a story of true romance, love and hope is found in Fakin’ It and so much more. As for Benjamin, he certainly knows how to make a woman melt in his arms. The sad truth is, there are many women that are in the same situation as Spartan that can certainly relate with this unforgettable read.
