Blake is a strong alpha shape shifter with an equally strong addiction, Ella the vampire. Theirs is a game of control and power. His blood gives her power and her magic keeps control over him. Blake swore off of his addiction a couple of years ago, but she has managed to drag him back. Once he finally gains the upper hand, will he be able to hold onto it, or will Ella take control and possibly his life?

The 13th Step is a short erotic story, not meant to be a traditional romance. Moira Rogers definitely delivered just that. This story dripped sex from the first page to the very last. There was just enough character development to give the reader an idea of who these two are and why they are in the position that they are in. Blake may be an alpha and very strong who wants control over Ella for a change, but under all of that, he just loves her and wants them to be able to make slow, tender love. Ella is the classic vampire, playing power games with other games, though I did see a touch of tenderness from her, which she quickly hides. She cannot love Blake, because she will lose him and have to go on living her immortal life without him.
