Keepers of Legend
Jessica Knight and her teenage daughter were hiking when they saw a strange flying creature and what looked like a ground to air missile that knocked it from the air. Then they heard crying and followed the sound to a remarkable discovery of an unknown baby creature whose mother was apparently just killed by the military. Even though the creature looks like a dragon, Jessica, a biologist, knows that is impossible, isn’t it? When Colonel Drew McGregor is sent to find the reported creature and whoever fired the missile he finds the only woman he has ever loved guarding it. Now what is he going to do? Duty says he must turn the animal over to the army, but Jessica is having no part of that and in his heart he also agrees the military may just kill it instead of caring for it. Can Drew and Jessica find a solution for keeping the baby dragon safe and along the way possibly rekindle the love they thought they had lost?

This is a very cute, fun and sentimental story. It is also thought provoking. What if dragons really did exist, there are certainly references in historical writings to beast that could have been dragons, and what if their eggs have just been dormant for centuries until now? How would modern society deal with the discovery of live dragons? The rekindling of the romance between Jessica and Drew is also poignant. Circumstances drove them a part sixteen years ago, and now chance has brought them back together again. Can they make it work this time? Jessica’s daughter also plays a major role in the unfolding drama, and I would love to see her reappear as an adult in a later story. The story is filled with action and danger from the moment the creature is found someone wants to destroy it, and someone is trying to protect it but which group is which. Is the military the danger or is a splinter group the danger? And along with trying to protect the creature, Jessica and whoever intends to help her must find a way for a dragon or whatever this creature is to coexist with humans in a safe manor without caging it. It is a very interesting dilemma, what would we do? If you love suspenseful romance tales with fantasy elements, you can’t go wrong with this charming tale. I hope this is just the beginning and that Ms. Hutton has more planned like this!
