Love, Lilies, and the Unbroken Straw
Christabel Wilde and her rescued Chihuahua have literally nothing but the clothes on her back when they turn up in her dying car at a horse rescue farm looking for work as a groom. It doesn’t matter that Christabel has never been around horses before she needs a job and loves animals, surely horses can’t be that hard? And Christabel is desperately trying to hide another secret that the rescue farms handsome veterinarian is determined to discover. Dr. Declan Armstrong knows there is something unique about Christabel’s affinity with animals, and he will find out what she is hiding. Can this rescue farm really turn out to be the fresh start Christabel desperately needs or will Dr. Declan’s determination to find her secret drive her away?
Love, Lilies, and the Unbroken Straw is the second story in Teri Wilson’s Hoofbeats and Heartstrings series. Each story follows the path of people with unusual talents with animals on their quest to finding people who can appreciate their gifts and a place they can call home. Christabel is convinced that if someone finds out what she can do with animals they will fear her and drive her away. She also desperately wants to find a place to call home where she doesn’t have to run and hide anymore. She thinks the rescue horse farm may be the perfect place for her if she can just stay away from Declan so he doesn’t learn her secret. Declan senses immediately that there is something unique about Christabel and he also is very attracted to her and wants to be more than her friend. But Declan can’t stand lying and Christabel is hiding something. I enjoyed this sweet story. Christabel and Declan are perfect for each other if they can get past their own reticence and Christabel’s secret. I like this series and can’t wait to see what Ms. Wilson has planned for book three!
