Wanton Wishes
When faerie godmother Zuzanna is informed by her supervisor, Prince Foster, that she'll be stripped of her powers and banished from the kingdom at midnight, she quickly decides to leave of her own accord, while she still has her wand and magic. Whilst hiding out in wintry Chicago, trying to decide her next move, she encounters young Jamie and his handsome widowed dad, Phillip. Zuzanna seizes an opportunity and quickly becomes Jamie's nanny. Phillip and Zuzanna share a strong mutual attraction and they soon become lovers. Zuzanna attempts to settle into life as a mortal, using as little magic as possible so as to remain hidden, but before long a blast from Zuzanna's past threatens their new-found happiness...

Wanton Wishes is lots of fun. It's a light, short story written from Zuzanna's point of view. The characters are engaging, particularly Zuzanna with her witty thoughts and comments. I especially liked Zuzanna's take on cars, gridlock, dishwashers, public transport and elevators, everyday things that us mere mortals take for granted. The twist at the end surprised me, but I did like the way the author ended the story. If you're after a quick read that'll keep you entertained from start to finish, I recommend Wanton Wishes by Ericka Scott.
