Finn
Diego has a spirit that attracts people, an honest caring nature emanating a promise of friendship when the suffering are enveloped in despair. It's what fascinated Finn in his moment of anguish. A city filled with iron is no place for a pooka, but amidst what seems a cage of poison, is the one sure thing to give Finn hope, Diego.
Two men, each hurting from a different type of poison, will learn the meaning of love and trust. Finn reminds us that everyone has a Goliath, but it's how true your character is that will determine if you are a David. Diego is more than a David in this story. He battles both human and supernatural beings to learn about his strength and his abilities. Finn is his anchor through this tale, even in his weakened state. He makes Diego face realities that he has kept hidden from himself for far too long. This is a passionately written story by Angel Martinez. The characters have flaws, regardless of their abilities, that make them believable. Finn's setting for each stage of this story is perfect. The one-on-one interaction time definitely helped them build a strong bond, but it's their time with someone close to Diego that seemed to help the two men view each other through different eyes. Seeing what is hidden just below the surface, even if Diego took longer to see it than Finn. This fast-paced read has a well-developed storyline and the characters draw you in from the first paragraph, keeping you enthralled until the very end. This was my first taste of Angel Martinez's writing style, but it definitely won't be my last.
