When human Gabrielle Stevens, Elle to her friends and to the Enclave, discovers that her sister is missing she visits the goth club where her sister was last seen. Who she doesn't expect to see is the vampire warrior that's plagued her heart and thoughts since he left the Enclave two years prior. Even though Arran forbids her to remain in the danger consuming them both, Elle won't abandon him, or her sister. Soon, their close proximity brings desire to the forefront and resisting each other becomes as futile as trying to hold back the next day's sunrise.

With the surge of vampire novels throughout the publishing industry, more often than not, it's easier to find a story that's a tired rerun of what's already been told. Or if it does contain anything unique, the storyteller lacks the ability to truly captivate the reader with characters with depth or a pulse-pounding plot that races toward its inevitable conclusion. This isn't the case with Jessica Lee. Dark Desires at Midnight powerfully magnetizes the reader with an engaging plot and likeable characters. Arran and Elle have such an amazing chemistry that their emotions and sexual tension evoke an almost visceral response.

My first read by Ms. Lee, I quickly scurried to select the original title in this series, Desire to Die By, which was no less as engaging as this story. Already panting in anticipation for the next story in the series, Ms. Lee has created in me a sure fan for these delicious vampire tales.
