Chasing Temptation
Elizabeth knows her twin sister was murdered. She also knows her sister's brutish husband is the murderer. Unfortunately she can't prove it. Even if she did, women were considered the property of their husbands, to do with as they wished. So Elizabeth takes matters into her own hands. She dresses as a highwayman, holds up her brother-in-law's coach, and 'accidentally' blasts the man's kneecaps to bits.

Christian Delaford, the seventh Duke Haverton, has to marry by midnight of his thirty-fifth birthday or his title and massive fortune will go to a distant cousin. He doesn't want just any bride. He has his heart set on the understandably marriage avoiding Elizabeth. Confident that he will win her, he makes a public wager with a rival.

Chasing Temptation is an intriguing romance featuring a pistol packing heroine and a very arrogant Duke. As a Regency romance reader, I had a few issues with the premise. Can a title be willed away from the legitimate heir? Can entailed land be willed away? Christian also appears a bit intellectually challenged for giving the competition for Elizabeth's hand even more incentive to win her by any means, fair or foul. However, the plot is full of twists and turns. Elizabeth is a fascinating woman. The secondary characters, including the deliciously bad rival, are as interesting. Chasing Temptation may tempt some Regency romance readers.
