A Good Student
Connor is mostly satisfied with his life. He is an author, supplementing his income by teaching a summer college course. Connor knows after a few failed relationships that he views relationships differently than "normal" people. He is looking for his perfect submissive, and he may have found her in Emma, one of his students.
Emma is taking the college course to escape her boyfriend and his overbearing family. She is intrigued by Connor and soon finds herself in his clutches. Her sexual desires have always caused her shame because she knows they are not normal. Connor is about to awaken a whole new person, but is she ready to face that person?
A Good Student is my first experience with Elliott Mabeuse. I can't believe I was missing out on so much! Dr. Mabeuse certainly knows how to write an erotic, captivating story. When I first began this book, I was surprised because it is written in Connor's first person point of view. I can't remember ever reading a book from the man's point of view. I have never been a big fan of the first person narrative, because I always feel as though I am missing out on the other person's feelings and thoughts. While I would have liked to "hear" more from Emma, I cannot deny that Connor and his perspective was powerful and enthralling.
I do have to say that this is a BDSM book, and this author can take his characters to exciting, almost appalling heights, in their scenes. If you do not enjoy BDSM, you will certainly not want to read this book. If you are looking for a sweet, touching romance to go with your BDSM, this is also not the book for you. However, if you can handle an intense, deeply emotional book, filled with titillation and eroticism, then I say you should pick this book up soon.
A Good Student is also impressive because it is the male dominant, Connor, who is not only teaching his submissive, Emma, who she really is, but also bearing his soul to prove to her that their connection is not easy to find and should not be taken lightly.
I look forward to seeking out other works by this talented author. My only regret is that I did not discover him sooner.
