Wicked Enchantment
After her humiliating, heart-breaking and very public break-up, Aislinn just wants to be left alone. She certainly does not want anything to do with men, and especially not an Unseelie Incubus. However, she finds herself as a personal guide to Gabriel, an incubus who has petitioned the Rose Tower for residency.
Aislinn is aware that she must protect her heart and body from Gabriel's dark magic, but she has no idea that she will soon be fighting for her life in a war over the throne of the Black Tower.
Wicked Enchantment is the first book in Anya Bast's Dark Magick Series. I am a sucker for series, especially when it involves an excellent author such as Ms. Bast and anything to do with the paranormal or fantasy genres.
Anya Bast did a superb job of building a complex fae society. I was drawn into this fantasy world and could picture it all in my mind so clearly. This world and the plot is so very in-depth and complex. It would have been very easy to get lost in the details and complexity, but Ms. Bast kept this book and the characters right on track. I followed the fast, smooth pace easily and eagerly.
The focus of Wicked Enchantment was on world-building and Aislinn. While I am sure more depth could have been given to certain areas of this book, such as what was going on with the politics of the two thrones, I didn't feel like I was missing too much, because there was so much other detail in this book. Since this is the first book in a series, I feel certain that other issues that may have been left out a little in this book will be covered much better in the books to come.
Anya Bast delivered a wonderful reading experience with this book. I loved the characters and their society, and I can't wait to read more about it all in the future books in this series.
