Wolf Hunt 3: Galactic Wolf
After planting agents to infiltrate Earth's low tech society, Gardenia has been preparing to take over the planet by peaceful means for years. Gardenia needs the beautiful blue planet for colonization and is quite willing to share Earth with its inhabitants. But now that their plans have been revealed by Earth rebels, a peaceful takeover has become impossible. As Gardenia's new Minister for Expansion, Cereza must lead an all-out invasion, but her plans go awry when she captures the pirates who've been taking out their supply ships for months and killing or imprisoning their crews.
Pirate Captain Yuri Nikitin may not know his own name or how he came to be a wolf shifter compelled to kill Gardenians, but he knows that they must be stopped before they reach Earth. Launching a surprise takeover of the Gardenian flagship, he can't believe his good luck when he finds a Gardenian minister onboard. Taking Cereza hostage, he plans to use her as leverage to force a full Gardenian withdrawal. What he doesn't count on is falling in love with her, particularly when his wolf wants nothing more than to rip out her throat.
When Yuri enlightens Cereza to the true consequences of carrying out her mission, she begins to see that diplomacy may be a better option than invasion. But when she conspires with a member of Yuri's crew to escape so she can carry out her plan, it may cost her everything, including Yuri's love.
Galatic Wolf is the third and final book in Marie Treanor's futuristic Wolf Hunt series about three soldiers genetically altered with wolf genes by the Earth government. Able to scent Gardenians among humans they've been stripped of their memories and sent out to hunt down and eliminate the alien infiltrators in urban, forest and galactic settings. All three books are connected and should be read in order for the most enjoyable reading experience.
In Galactic Wolf Ms. Treanor spins a realistic, well-plotted sci-fi tale in a minimum amount of words. Her appealing, credible characters immediately sucked me into the story. While this book has a fair amount of action, it's largely driven by character emotion. The love that blossoms between the Yuri and Cereza is sudden but convincing; the sex between them was hot, yet emotionally moving. When Cereza seemingly walks away from Yuri, I felt his pain over what appeared to him to be her betrayal, just as I felt her anguish over his initial withdrawal when they saw each other again.
The ending of this book brought this series to a full and satisfying conclusion. While books two and three aren't quite as good as book one, I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series and can recommend it without reservation to all readers who enjoy futuristic romance with a supernatural twist.
