The first book of the Sullivan Family series is off to a good start with Against Doctor's Orders.

Dr. Molly Jordon treats Detective Danny Sullivan for a critical bullet wound and finds him a very difficult patient especially since she feels drawn to the sexy cop. As a cop's widow, Molly has no intention of getting involved with another man with a risky job, especially another cop. But Danny isn't just a cop, he's the son of a retired police commissioner and one of six kids that all have careers in law enforcement. Danny's divorce from his wife has him convinced that being a police officer and marriage just doesn't work. But the bossy and beautiful Dr. Jordan has him rethinking everything he thought he wanted in his life.

This is a great start to a series about a family dedicated to law enforcement! I loved Danny; he is a charming rascal and sexy to boot. Molly is a sweet character until you disobey her doctor's orders, and then she becomes a tyrant and just the kind of spunky woman Danny needs in his life. I loved the interactions between this couple as they get to know each other and discover a spark of something very special. But Danny has a serial killer to catch and can't stand being away from the job, and Molly just got in his way when she refused to sign the orders for him to return to work. Molly doesn't think Danny is ready to return to work, and she knows she isn't ready to fall for a man who can't live without his risky job so their future looks really dim. And if that isn't enough to get you interested, there is a wonderful cast of secondary characters some of which are likely to be the main characters in the other books in this series! I enjoyed this story and can't wait to read book two.
