Jock Dorm 3: David and Conner
David and Conner by Bobby Michaels is a homoerotic contemporary romance.
Father David Colucci has spent the last five years of his life in the service of Our Lady of the Perpetual Help Catholic church first as a deacon then as a priest. Unlike most newly ordained Priests, he chose the inner city to minister to the needy, especially the marines who seem to have fallen through the government cracks. David is not only a priest, but a licensed psychologist. Tim Shelton, a homeless marine, found his way to shelter, and after David offered to get him the help he needed, Detective Conner McMahon arrived hoping to talk to Tim who may have been a witness to a murder. As they begin to work together they soon realize that they are gay; even though David has never acted on his urges. David and Conner meet as friends and as their feelings grow David doesn't know what to do. His entire life has been dedicated to the church and it's people. What will he choose the church or open up to other possibilities in life; the love of a good man and possibly explore other ways to serve?
Mr. Michaels has continued his series Jock Dorm in this story about two men who have to overcome many obstacles to find their way to happiness. David's dilemma is one that is happening all the time in the Roman Catholic church. Many priests are having difficulties living in today's society while following the limitations placed upon them by the laws of the church. David's quandary of making a choice much have been the most difficult one ever in his life, even though his love for Conner won in the end. Conner is a man with difficulties in the past who is willing to fight for what he wants, refusing to take second best. I loved how many of the characters from the earlier books in the series played prominent secondary characters as the story unfolded. With this incredible story, Mr. Michaels neatly wrapped up the series and possibly left openings for other books in the future. This story follows all of the difficulties that David and Conner encounter showing everything they went through, both good and bad. This is one series that I would definitely recommend. I waited a long time to read it, and it was definitely worth the wait. Thanks go to Mr. Michaels for a incredible book and series.
