Matthew Cromby's Christmas spirit goes right out the window when he gets fired by his boss, Dove Hollister. Dove might have a pretty face but Matthew finds out he has an ugly personality. The Star Man is wonderfully unexpected! Right from the start Jan Irving takes the reader places we didn't expect to go, with Dove's transformation. The Dove that shows up is kind-hearted. He creeps in to your heart right from the first introduction. He also sneaks in to Matthew's heart, which makes the whole story worth reading. Matthew is an angry, lonely man who finds something in the new and improved Dove that seems to scare him. The author creates a well-rounded story. One that will make you laugh at times and touch your heart at other moments. One that's romantic and, at the same time, has that element of mild mystery that will keep you reading on.
