Half of the Other
Half of The Other by Joanne Kells is a homoerotic contemporary romance.

Charlie can't believe what he did last night. He was so drunk that he not only made a pass at his best friend Tom, but he had his tongue down his throat. Don't get me wrong, Charlie enjoyed every minute of it, but Tom isn't gay. Charlie is afraid that his friendship will not only be over, but he doesn't know what Tom will say or do. Charlie gets up not quite ready to face the day, and who is the first person he runs into at the coffee shop, non other than Tom. Charlie is surprised when Tom makes a reference to what happened at the party. The day quickly goes downhill when instead of concentrating on his presentation all Charlie can think about is Tom. Charlie gets a text from Tom asking him to come to his house for a surprise. What is going on? Will Charlie finally get his heart's desire or is something else in store for his evening?

Ms. Kells has created a fascinating, engaging, and totally clumsy character in Charlie. I loved how he continuously rambled to himself about every situation he could imagine when people were waiting for him to respond. His tripping and falling over everything and his quiet mature endears him to the reader. Tom is willing to do what he can for Charlie, but is there more behind his feelings than meets the eye? The love between Charlie and Tom is evident if the two of them can just be made to see it; they are two halves of one whole. Charlie's mother is one tough woman who is determined to help Charlie get what she thinks he wants, much to Charlie's dismay. Thanks go to Ms. Kells for a fun story.
