MIA Case Files: Wolfsbane
When MIA agents Carmichael and Cardosa get to Rothburg all they are hoping is that their reports are incorrect and their suspicion of a portal opening is just suspicion. Unfortunately all the signs point to there being Umbrae passing through. Cardosa assigns Carmichael to Adam Farelli, a local that they've hired to show them around the town. But Adam adds an entirely new factor into an already tense situation. He's absolutely one of the sexiest men Carmichael has ever seen and when dealing with the creatures the Umbrae create any distraction is one too many when the lives of innocent bystanders are on the line.
I really enjoyed MIA Case Files: Wolfsbane. From the first moment I met Cardosa, Carmichael, and Adam I knew it was going to be a great story. The paranormal element is present but it is not the main focus in the storyline. It's not until a bit into the story that the reader learns what form the Umbrae has taken in those it's infected. The main focus of MIA Case Files: Wolfsbane is the developing attraction between Carmichael and Adam. The fact that Adam has to face the disapproval and censure of the townsfolk everyday makes him a sympathetic character. When Carmichael persists in drawing erroneous conclusions about why they treat Adam the way they do, his career, or lack thereof, and Adam's current living situation, I just wanted to beat him with a stick. The plotting was well conceived, the pacing fast, and the writing was concise without being terse. I certainly hope that KC Burn brings fans another story set in this universe.
