Rosalie lives with the knowledge that in many ways she has failed herself. Her life has been filled with debauchery and addiction, so much so, that it has almost destroyed her. Since the death of her parents at an early age, each day has been a struggle as she fights to maintain her desire for a better life. Rosalie decides to take a trip home; her only thought being to try and recapture some of the memories and happiness of youth to sustain her in the present. What she finds is much more than childhood memories. Rosalie is taken on a journey that will test her and call upon the strength that lies hidden inside.

H.J. Courtright offers readers an insightful, emotional account of one woman’s journey of self-discovery. His portrayal of Rosalie brings to life a woman with both weakness and determination. The development of her character is easily believable. The additional characters within the story add a foil for her development that makes her journey flow. Mr. Courtright’s plot is complimented by colorful imagery and emotion. He introduces aspects of shamanism that ring true with the experiences and desires of the characters. This work, while short, will still hold appeal for readers who are looking for an eloquent, powerful story of growth and self-discovery.
