Laura’s Secrets
Laura can’t believe it when she lands her dream job as Sound Engineer for the nationally acclaimed rock band, Tourist. The job gives her everything she’s wanted-a chance to work with music artists, world-wide travel, and to be the best in her field. What she doesn’t expect is Will.
Will is tired of the party life that goes hand-in-hand with the rock circuit. He’s ready for something more. Will knows from the first time he sees Laura that she is something special. She is so quiet and withdrawn, he has to approach her. First, he has to get her to smile, and then to laugh. He wants to be the one to chase away the wariness he sees lingering in her eyes.
Suddenly, things begin to go wrong. Little things first, like mike’s not working, then big things, like total power failure during a show. Could this be as simple as someone on her new crew not liking her? Or is it something more sinister? Someone from her past, determined to sabotage her new life?
Will and Laura will have to work together to right things for the band and themselves. Can they manage to hold on to what they are creating together? Or will they be torn apart?
This is an amazing story. All of the characters, main characters and peripheral characters, are 3-dimensional. You may not like all of them, but they are real and it is very easy to slip into this story and become Laura as she fights for what she wants. The conflict is real and the plot, though easy to follow, is not completely predictable. It has become rare to see such attention to detail in a romance novel but Ms. Greenland has done it and in brilliant style.
I came away from this story with that warm-fuzzy feeling I only get from stories that have really touched me. This is going to become one of my old friends that I pull off the shelf whenever I’m feeling low and need a little boost. Thanks for writing such a great story, Ms. Greenland!
