Vengeance to the Max

Max has a dream-except it’s not a dream, not like normal people have-it’s a vision. And it’s always the same. Someone dies and she has to figure out what it means. This time, however, it’s much closer to home. She’s dreaming of Cameron, her husband. Max has never really recovered from Cameron’s murder and now she has to solve it in order to go on with her life.

Of course, Cameron will be helping her. He’s never left her and he always helps her out, just like her boyfriend, Witt. Witt is a detective and doesn’t mind-much-that Max is still talking to her husband’s ghost-after all; his mother has been talking to his father’s ghost for years. Witt will do whatever it takes to help Max find her husband’s killers and hang on to what they are trying to find with each other. But will Max be able to find Cameron’s killers, when it may mean saying goodbye to him forever?

This is book 5 of a series. Even if you have not read the other four, you will be able to follow along just fine. This book works by itself without having to rely on the reader’s knowledge of the other books. Ms. Skully does a wonderful job of giving you enough of the details from previous stories so that you don’t feel lost by picking this one up on its own. The characters and plot are very well developed and move along at a nice steady pace. There are occasional references to previous adventures, but they are dropped in to help you understand the dynamics between Max, Witt, and Cameron and to make you want to go out and find the previous books!

This book has a wonderful flow and is an excellent mystery. Every time you think you’ve got it figured out, Ms. Skully throws you another curve! She keeps you guessing and draws you in so that you experience Max’s emotions and understand the choices that she makes.
