Erin Brannigan is encased from head to toe, nothing of her body showing, in a robe made by her friend Maggie, all for a scientific study on isolation. She hadn’t expected to feel so safe behind the mask. The first few weeks nothing happened, people either tried hard to ignore her or they stared. Then one night after she’s grabbed and pulled into an alleyway and almost raped, she gets away and back to her hotel room. That’s the night she meets Ryan Whitfield and finds out that her friend Maggie has had him watching her to keep her safe. In the days to come, knowing that Ryan is there for her, her feelings for him grow, but she won’t allow him to see her without her mask; she has to finish her research, or so she tells herself.

Ryan Whitfield wants this woman in his life. She’s everything he’s been looking for, beautiful, loving, and sexy in her robes. Spending time with her only makes his love for her grow even more; she’s the woman he’s going to marry. Now he just has to make her realize it and want to take her mask off, to stop hiding behind it. Will he be able to convince Erin that he’ll love her no matter what and that she’s safe with him?

Ms. Casavant’s story explores the world of masking and how it can affect some people. Erin has to learn to trust and to feel safe with Ryan before she can unmask. The emotions in this story are so intense the reader can feel Erin’s fear and her desire to let Ryan see all of her. Maggie, Tom, Harriet, and Benjamin are strong secondary characters that round out the story.
