Elizabeth Gordon is a woman who longs to find a passionate and caring man to love. She is tired of money hungry and unfaithful men like her jerk of an ex-boyfriend. Liz believes that all people care about these days are money, power, and fame. There is no real danger anymore, no really noble cause to be passionate about and Liz longs for some of that passion from long ago.

In 1783, Major Wesley Hale is a man who questions his own worth and he wonders if his life has really serves a purpose. He is also haunted by the bloody battle he fought in against the Red Coats. Wes is an American Patriot who believes in his cause, the right for America to be free from English rule. He doubts he will ever be happy and married like his friend John Paul. Each year on October 30th he goes to the Valley Of The Shadow, the place where his life was nearly taken in that bloody battle and changed forever.

On October 30, 2004 over two hundred years after the battle in the Valley Of The Shadow, Liz and her friends come to Annual Haunted Grounds celebration to tour the grounds, where actors dressed up as ghosts go about scarring the living daylights out of people. While they are there a storm breaks out and the rain starts coming down too hard to see, with lots of thunder and lightning.

Liz gets separated from her friends in the storm, when she spies men dressed up as Red Coats hanging from a tree. One minute they are there the next they are gone. When they disappear the most handsome man Liz has ever seen replaces them. Liz and the man just stare into each other’s eyes and he seems to beckon her to come to him. Liz goes to him, and as she hits the icy fog that has come to rest between them she feels as though she has been struck by lightning and then everything goes black.

Upon waking Liz finds herself lying next to the handsome man on the ground. He is dressed in very strange clothing. When they begin to talk they both are in for quite a shock. Liz has somehow managed to travel back to the past and landed in the year 1783. What is she going to do? How will she be able to get back home to the year 2004? Will she even want to?

Elle Emriche takes us on an incredible adventure with lots of excitement. You will become immersed in the lives of these amazing people the moment you pick up this book. Wes and Liz are two people you will root for when all hope seems lost.

The passion in this book is real and fiery hot. The love scenes explode right off the pages to burn the tips of your fingers. You will find yourself drawn into another world, another time where there are just and noble causes for people to believe in, fight and even die for.

Ms. Emriche has given us a taste of the past and the thirst for passion that cannot be quenched with the Valley Of The Shadow. I am eagerly waiting to read more of her timeless tales of love and honor.
