Saving Will
Will doesn’t ask for much; mostly he just wants to be left alone during whatever down time he and the other SEALS of his team have. When all but one part of his body tells him he’d be better off ignoring her, Will knows he is doomed the first time he sets eyes on Lee Ann. Being his typical self, he doesn’t think past just getting his hands on her. Without a doubt, they are combustible in that area. What Will hasn’t counted on is how much he is looking forward to being with Lee Ann again after this latest mission
Finally home, Will immediately goes to Lee Ann. Spending no time on the pleasantries, Will wastes no time letting Lee Ann know how much he missed her. Later Will overhears Lee Ann on the phone and his inner demons surface. The ensuing scene leaves them both hurting. Lee Ann is devastated that in the blink of an eye, Will go can from making hot, passionate love with her, to all but calling her a whore. For her, Will is a mistake she does not want to make again.
After some much needed sustenance and sleep, Will realizes the depth of his mistake. How he could have said something so stupid is beyond him. With his newfound understanding of how much he loves Lee Ann, paired with how badly he knows he’s messed up, he’s determined do whatever it takes to gain her forgiveness and win her back.
Saving Will struck a chord with me. Having been affiliated with the military all my life; these are situations and emotions I understand all too well. Not that this book is based solely on the Navy, but Will being a Navy SEAL definitely explains a thing or two about his alpha-male self. To me, Saving Will is about a couple that has mind blowing sex first and then bothers to learn a little something about each other later. While fun in the moment, it’s not always a good thing later. What’s great about this book is that it’s light hearted when it fits, intense when it needs to be, and passionate throughout. Ms. Vaughan, excellently portrays Lee Ann’s hurt and betrayal at Will misunderstanding what he heard. Here she thinks she’s found her soul mate, but how can that be when he’s judging her so harshly. Will would kick himself if he could. Knowing he let past relationships cloud his judgment doesn’t make him feel any better. Will’s sincerity at getting Lee Ann back is touching as is Lee Ann’s fear of trusting Will again. Readers can’t go wrong with Saving Will as it encompasses all the things a great romance story should. I’ve heard it said that Saving Will is a step away from Stephanie Vaughan’s norm. As this is my first book by her, I can only say that typical of her or not, I would not hesitate to read anything else that had her name on it. Hence my 5 Angel – Recommend Read rating!
