Hands On Training

The hero and heroine of Hands On Training are Joey and Heath from Schroeder’s book Hired Hand. Joey Vernon is Marlow’s administrative assistant, and Heath Campbell is Liam’s brother and business partner. Now that Marlow and Liam are happily married, Joey and Heath are both taking on more responsibility in their respective companies. Naturally, they have to spend more time in each other’s presence, so it’s a real shame that Joey doesn’t like Heath, and Heath doesn’t like Joey -- or do they? The action starts when Joey is sent to Florida on her first independent consulting assignment for the company, and Heath is assigned to accompany and train her. Can fireworks be far behind?

This is a short story (50 pages) that answers the reader’s question, “What happens to Joey and Heath?” It’s a much lighter story than that of Marlow and Liam, but quite amusing. The characters of Joey and Heath are obviously conflicted – each hides feelings from the other because of their work relationship, and can only let go and demonstrate their feelings under exceptional circumstances. Unfortunately, the action feels rushed because of the short format. The male/female sex scenes are quite explicit, and include a great deal of affection between the participants, and a little light bondage. I found this a great light read to while away the time on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
