Sleeping Dragon

Youlton is one of a dying breed, a wizard. He’s dedicated his life to helping people even if they fear and hate what he is. When the shield that protects his part of the world starts to weaken, he gives his all to heal the breech in the shield. Repairing the shield has nearly killed him, and if he doesn’t get help soon he will die. To top all that off, when his caregivers ask for payment, the villagers tell them that they lied, and they have no money. Instead, they give him a key and tell his keepers that it will heal him. What he discovers in the locked room is beyond his wildest imagination, and does far more than heal.

Garyn is a shape shifter that has been a prisoner for centuries, and is willing to do anything to get out, even trick the man that is trying to help him. In order to do that, he decides that he has to seduce Youlton to make him fall in love with him. Unfortunately, as he spends more time with Youlton he finds himself falling into the very trap that he has set for his prey.

I was completely immersed in this story, and really liked both characters. Garyn is a little rough at first, but when you find out his past you can’t understand why he isn’t even worse than he comes across. Youlton is the opposite, almost too nice, and when you get to know him you realize that he has a stubborn streak that just won’t quit. I thought it was great that Stephanie Burke was able to make these two people really seem to care about each other in such a short period of time. The story is a bit unusual because Garyn can not only shift into a dragon, but he can also be male or female. There is some same gender sex, and a little bit of BDSM in the story, but it all falls together seamlessly and makes the story believable. Definitely one that shouldn’t be missed!
