Biker Chic
Melanie Brooks’ husband of eighteen years has left her for another woman - a tanned, perky, twenty-something bimbo. She’s packing his things and reminiscing about their life together, when who should walk in but her soon-to-be ex-husband. He catches her in a weak moment, and presses his advantage, but takes it way too far. Melanie always thought that she was the perfect wife; she never complained, threw tantrums, or nagged. Now, alone and independently wealthy, she’s been deserted by her friends, betrayed by her man, and she’s fallen into the same trap her mother did. She decides to take a vacation, do some soul-searching and see the sights. On her way, she has car trouble and is left to the mercy of the hot sun and the scorpions, until the biker gang shows up.
Jake Marrs can’t believe that a classy lady like this is so far from her comfort zone, and that she’s so naive. She’s got no cash on her, even though she looks like she’s rolling in bucks, so he takes pity on her and helps her. He finds himself extremely attracted to Melanie, and she’s a lot more human than he first thought. They spit and sputter at each other and then give in to the passion burning under the surface.
In Biker Chic by Jeya Jenson, Melanie is warring against her past pain and her current fears. She has lost her sense of self, and she’s seeking something new for her life. Jake is a bear of a biker with a gentle streak; he can see the woman that Melanie is beneath her cool exterior. Ms. Jenson skillfully fashions her characters and settings to add life and depth to this tale. The intimacy that these characters share is deeper than sex, and adds subtle emotion to the story. This was my first book by Ms. Jenson, and I enjoyed it heartily.
