Blood and Tears
Vampire afficionado Marie Parker spends her hard-earned money for a trip to Europe to tour Romania, and the castle of Dracula. Needless to say, the tour is not all the she had hoped and dreamed until she takes a little side trip into an underground stairway and is rescued by a mysterious velvet-voiced man.
Fast-forward six months. Marie is back at her prestigious job as an architect, when she gets a call from her boss requesting a meeting. He presents her with the opportunity of a lifetime - designing a house for a wealthy recluse. The client asked for Marie by name, and asks for her presence at dinner this evening. Marie meets Tyler, her client, at his quaint home for dinner to hammer out the design of his house. He is handsome and oddly hypnotic, and something in him calls to her - it is almost as if she knows him already. As she designs his house, the bond between them grows stronger. At the same time, a fanged menace is killing at will on the streets, and Marie’s friend Beth winds up a victim.
Lieutenant Michael Decker is the officer in charge of the murders, and also feels a strong attraction to Marie. He is suspicious of Tyler from the beginning and promises himself that he’ll get to the bottom of this. Decker vows to save Marie, no matter the cost to himself or his honor.
Blood and Tears by Robyn Crane is an epic work - a complex and in-depth look at the life of a vampire. Ms. Crane does an admirable and informative job of getting inside the vamp’s head, detailing how he thinks and feels, as well as giving readers a chance to really bond with this character. The author does an admirable job of muddying the waters as far as who is the bad guy, all the while whetting the reader's appetite for more. Marie and Tyler are interesting and realistic, and you feel what they feel in this expertly written book. True love certainly does conquer all. Good job, Robyn Crane!
