Call Me

College student Amber Miller is flat broke, about to be evicted, stuck with a broken-down car and, to top it all off, she’s pretty sure she flunked her history quiz. Her tears attract the attention of her classmate Jill Nelson, and they go for a cup of coffee and talk about Amber’s situation.

As it turns out, Jill’s daddy isn’t rich like Amber expected. In fact, Jill earns her money herself as a phone sex operator, and suggests that Amber try it. At this point, Amber is pretty much out of options, and so she agrees. Amber really gets into the phone sex goddess role, and soon she’s got some regular customers. One of them is gets a little too intense and subtly threatens her, scaring her into the arms of her boss’ private investigator, Ken. Sparks fly and the passion between them grows. Little do they know that they’ve been part of someone’s plan to get them together...

Call Me is a funny look at a virtual innocent learning the sexual ropes by telephone. The scene in which she gets her first call just about made me fall out of the chair laughing, and there were many more scenes just as funny as that one in this book. I loved Amber - she is naive and sweet, and there are more layers to her than I had originally thought. The bad guy was just scary enough to be realistic, and Ken shines as her protector. Lizzie T. Leaf pens a honey of a tale, and I’ll be looking for more goodies from her!
