In Candy Hearts 1: Valentine’s Vow, Ryan Southerd inherits several things from his cantankerous Uncle Joey: a chili recipe guaranteed to turn your mouth into a screaming inferno, a lovely cabin, and a penchant for hot men. Ryan, along with his lover, Thom, is firmly decided on keeping their relationship just like it is; they are buddies with benefits. No mushy lovey-dovey stuff for these manly men.

But Uncle Joey (or rather his ghost) is still around, and calls in a big favor to show Ryan and Thom what they are missing out on by resisting love and openly protesting Valentine’s Day. Valentine is glad to get involved in this situation and, quite frankly, he’s a bit ticked off that his day is being disparaged by these guys; he intervenes and much hilarity ensues. What follows is a funny, poignant story about two hurt and lonely men getting the best Valentine’s Day gift ever.

Willa Okati just keeps on getting better and better; she writes phenomenal characters and amazing stories. Candy Hearts 1: Valentine’s Vow is a pithy, humorous, and steamy look at the pitfalls and traumas of taking the next step in a relationship. Prepare yourself for blazing hot male-on-male scenes and much more - this one's got it all! This was one of the funniest tales I’ve read in a long time, and it was just right for a short and sweet read.
