Mission Irresistible
Most people know of the Pharaoh, Ramses, who ruled ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. Few people know the legend regarding his oldest daughter Kiya and her forbidden lover Solen. That legend and the associated broken amulet, the pieces of which must be joined so that Kia and Solen’s souls can be joined in the afterworld, has been the obsession of Archaeologist Dr. Harrison Standish for most of his life. Now that he has found Kiya’s remains, and his half brother Adam has found the remains of Solen, it is the job of PR specialist Cassie Cooper to arrange the party of the year at the Kimbell Art Museum where the pieces will be reunited.
Unfortunately, what should be the party of the year turns into the disaster of the year. First, the mummy who has been shadowing Cassie all night is stabbed and then disappears. Then, Kiya’s half of the amulet disappears and that’s not even taking into account the fact that Solen’s half of the amulet has disappeared...along with Adam. Let’s not forget to mention the assistant museum curator’s strange disappearance, the Nike wearing thug who seems to turn up everywhere and this REALLY strange attraction that neither Harrison nor Cassie can ignore.
Lori Wilde’s Mission Irresistible is, in a word, irresistible!! I honestly do not remember the last time I was so immersed in a story. By the time I finished the prologue I was totally hooked. I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt so the combination of the legend, the modern day mystery and the romance was simply irresistible. *g* So as not to mislead you, Harrison is no Indiana Jones but the combination of his “standoffishness” and Cassie’s spunkiness is pure perfection. Ms. Wilde has penned another winner and I sincerely hope that Adam gets his own story, and soon.
